Our world is full of mysterious things. A number of them cannot be explained even by scientific experts. Others represent a group of illusions. Illusion world is wide, not many people have good knowledge about it. Everyone has noticed that when a spoon or a fork is dropped into water it seems to be broken, though in reality it isn't. There is a wide range of other resembling optical illusions. Observing different kinds of illusions is a good pastime for people with inquisitive mind. Optical illusions are characterized by images perceived visually that differ from what they are in object reality. Our eyes gather info that is processed by brain. As a result we get a percept that does not match to what is objectively displayed. The types of the optical illusions are different in accordance with the object that creates this optical illusion. For example, literal optical illusions form images that differ from the objects that make them. You have probably seen such pictures where at first you notice a certain object, but when you look attentively you acknowledge that this image is formed with the use of other objects. An example of such literal visual illusion is a vase formed by two faces. Such pictures are commonly called ambiguous pictures. It's sometimes really difficult to notice another picture on the same image. Physiological illusions have certain effect on our brain and eyes and as a result we obtain an illusion of various parameters – color, brightness, movement, size. For example, there are images where some things look as if they are of different color or size, when in objective reality they are absolutely the same. Optical illusion of Muller-Lyer with arrows is a great example of this kind of optical illusions. Cognitive visual illusions make our brain made incorrect conclusions from what the eyes observe. These illusions include paradoxical and impossible things like Penrose triangle and impossible staircase, and hallucinations as well. Optical illusions are an excellent entertainment for people. What's more, they help us to have a look at our world from another side. As a consequence our brain will get more flexible that will definitely assist you in life.
